INEC RECOGNIZES ABURE AS LABOUR PARTY CHAIRMAN AFTER LONG BATTLE WITH PARTY UNRECOGNIZED STOCKHOLDERS

INEC RECOGNIZES ABURE AS LABOUR PARTY CHAIRMAN AFTER LONG BATTLE WITH PARTY UNRECOGNIZED STOCKHOLDERS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally recognized Barrister Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, along with Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim as the National Secretary.

This development comes after a long-standing legal battle and a recent court order compelling INEC to recognize the Abure-led leadership.

According to reports, Abure and Ibrahim attended a quarterly consultative meeting between INEC and political parties, where Abure congratulated INEC's acting chair, Mrs. Agbamuche Mbu, on her appointment.

Via another handle, the Labour Party's National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, confirmed that INEC has been asked to upload the party's candidates for the FCT Area Council elections.

This recognition is expected to bring stability to the Labour Party, which has been embroiled in internal conflicts and leadership disputes.

The supreme court's decision and INEC's subsequent recognition are seen as a major victory for the Abure's leadership.

However, with this INEC Abure's recognition action, the party's crisis is definitely now over and should remain a thing in the past, while other factions and stakeholders will have no more legal voice to continue to disturb the Abure led leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
